I am using a very barebones gentoo install with e17 as the desktop shell. And I am loving every moment of tweaking it to "perfection" with the applications of my choice. Very lightweight, unlike any other install I ahve done before, and yet so pleasing to the eye.

However, as it is a limited desktop shell I am having a little trouble finding applications to use as system tray, and also a trash icon. The system tray problem, I solved by using Stalonetray. And I found a trash module for e17 too, here. But I am unable to compile it. as there is only a configure.ac file and no configure file, and using autoconf, which was as much help as I could get by googling, gives me errors

Quote:
configure.ac:13: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:14: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONFIG_HEADER
configure.ac:17: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PROG_CC_STDC
configure.ac:24: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL
configure.ac:26: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GNU_GETTEXT
configure.ac:27: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION

I am no developer, coder or geek - just an ordinary end-user learning all I can abt the Linux world. So I went looking for an ebuild and found one for 0.0.3, but I also learnt that it does not work with the current version of eina.

So is there any way I can try and make this work...? I am assuming that I need to edit the configure.ac file, but can't make much of the errors.

Any help would be appreciated...!

Thanks for that tip, scary - autogen.sh did the whole trick neatly..!

./autogen.sh
make
make install

That is how I got it done. I did not have to do a ./configure.
