So my situation is that I recently swicthed my x86 box to amd64... in the process I had found out my Libertas 8335 wireless didn't have 64bit drivers to wrap with ndiswrapper. I had found some random company that made their own 64bit driver, but it is much slower than its 32bit counterpart. On top of the slowness they would crash spuratically. I then bought a new cheap wireless N card (Airlink AWLH6070). Which came with 64bit drivers to use with ndiswrapper. These however were bitten by a nasty bug where ntos_wq would eat up like 80-100% of the processor and wireless would disconnect/freeze/die as well as only WEP working, WPA would never get past the 4way group handshake (TKIP or AES) . its a RaLink rt2760 chipset, and RaLink provides drivers however I have never gotten them to work. I then read somewhere in 2.6.29 kernel there will be support. So I downloaded 2.6.29-rc6 and enabled the staging drivers and sure nuff there is now support for RaLink rt2760 and rt2860... They work flawlessly... however now I can't build my vmware-modules (for VMWare Server 1). My question is would it be possibly to merge/copy the drivers from my 2.6.29 kernel to my old 2.6.28 kernel or would it be easier to patch/find a patch for vmware-modules-1.0.0.15-r2 or whatever to build on a 2.6.29 kernel. Or my other option... just wait till vmware releases their new patch for a 2.6.29 kernel.

Thanks for the link... I ended up just merging the staging drivers from the 2.6.29-rc6 kernel with my gentoo-sources-2.6.28-r2 kernel and now I have my wireless and vmware playing nicely together. And my fb splash is back too (I was too lazy to patch the vanilla kernel)
