I'm running gentoo 2.6.23 ppc64 from the minimum install CD. I've sucessfully installed bluez-utils but I get a lot of "Address family not supported by protocol" type of errors and no success using bluetooth devices.

Examples:

When i try to start bluetooth, hcid starts but rfcomm gives me "Can't open RFCOMM control socket: Address family not supported by protocol"

hciconfig gives me the same error but for HCI socket. hidd start again gives me same error for HIDP socket. I'm a linux noob so I don't particularly understand what these mean. Any help would be appreciated

It appears that perhaps I need to use genkernel --menuconfig to configure my kernel, however, there is no kernel source in /usr/src/linux. How do I go about obtaining this?

Just in case another noob such as myself is having this issue, rebuilding the kernel and configuring it appropriately via menuconfig will fix this issue.

What do you mean by "appropriately"? Are there some important details that are not set by default to PS3? Coz obviously I'm noob such as you, and I can't rebuild the kernel :?
