I tried to add a couple of overlays with layman, and got the following error messages:
layman -a berkano
Code:

* Running command "/usr/bin/svn co "http://svn.liveforge.org/berkano/trunk/" "/usr/portage/local/layman/berkano""...
* Failed to add overlay "berkano".
* Error was: Adding the overlay failed! Possible remains of the opration have NOT been removed and may be left at /usr/portage/local/layman/berkano. Please remove them manually if required.

layman -a sunrise
Code:

* Running command "/usr/bin/svn co "http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/sunrise/reviewed//" "/usr/portage/local/layman/sunrise""...
* Failed to add overlay "sunrise".
* Error was: Adding the overlay failed! Possible remains of the opration have NOT been removed and may be left at /usr/portage/local/layman/sunrise. Please remove them manually if required.

layman -a java-overlay
Code:

* Running command "/usr/bin/svn co "http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/java/java-overlay//" "/usr/portage/local/layman/java-overlay""...
* Failed to add overlay "java-overlay".
* Error was: Adding the overlay failed! Possible remains of the opration have NOT been removed and may be left at /usr/portage/local/layman/java-overlay. Please remove them manually if required.

layman -a plan9
Code:

* Running command "/usr/bin/svn co "http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/dev/anant/plan9/" "/usr/portage/local/layman/plan9""...
* Failed to add overlay "plan9".
* Error was: Adding the overlay failed! Possible remains of the opration have NOT been removed and may be left at /usr/portage/local/layman/plan9. Please remove them manually if required.

I did 'rm -rf' on the /usr/portage/local/plan9,sunrise,java-overlay folders and tried again, but the same thing happened. The x11 overlay worked fine, and I can browse overlay pages on o.g.o or their site's fine.

Anyone else have this problem?

No I have the java overlay, but I never got that problem, sorry I don't know how to fix it besides deleting the files and reemerging but you already did that. I haven't updated the java-overlay for awhile I can try when I get home and see if it's a server side problem.

I fixed the same problem downgrading net-misc/neon from 0.28.4 to 0.28.3.

(According to this thread : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-751670.html )

I don't understand why, but it works :oops:
