This is the ISO I burnt to a CDRW for my IBM Intellistation POWER 275 (one heavy, noisy bitch). I searched the forum, and found nothing that applied to my situation (no, Macs don't count).

Some people have experienced this problem with "unsupported framebuffers". I have two GXT6500Ps, although it didn't work with only one card in there either. From what I heard, GXT6500P is supposed to at least have framebuffer support in Linux, so I don't know how to fix the problem here. I even passed video=ofonly.

Macs do count, it's the same issue. There's no initial framebuffer, so you don't have a console. On that machine, I'd probably set it up to use a serial console on boot, at least until you had set up your kernel and made sure that the graphics card was working.

the only cards supported by video=gxt4500 are GXT4500P and GXT6000P and obviously video=ofonly works only on pmac.
For your 9114-275 you must choose serial console (ttyS0,9600).

And if you still have problems, pull the video card (all of them). These things run the best without a video card anyways. I have a gxt4500, but don't even have it hooked up to a monitor. I'm typing in a browser that I have open over an ssh X forward.

I don't know if you've seen this, but there has been a bug report written for IBM video cards. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8372 Once you've built your own kernel with framebuffer support and if it still doesn't work, you could add your card to the mix.

A lot more information is out there than you would expect. Gentoo is what I run on my 44P-170, so most of what I've posted is RS6000 related. Mine uses a Power3 processor. Yours uses Power4++. If I can run it, you can run it. I'm running 64-bit userspace, but you may want to do 32-bit. 64-bit really isn't doing much for me.

Anyways, back to what I was doing when I opened my browser.
