Hi there,

I really need help. I upgraded my kernel version on 2.6.28-r5, recompiled all necessery drivers. Everything seemd ok. But strange thing happened yesterday. After my kernel upgrade, I started VirtualBox and it worked fine, after I finished, shutdown computer, went home turn it on and started virtualbox, and got this message:

Failed to execute child process "VirtualBox" (No such file or directory)

First thing I've done is checked out if there modules loaded and my lsmod output is:

gentoo / # lsmod
Module Size Used by
tun 9668 0
bridge 32588 0
stp 2180 1 bridge
llc 4812 2 bridge,stp
snd_pcm_oss 31200 0
snd_mixer_oss 12288 1 snd_pcm_oss
vboxnetflt 65448 0
vboxdrv 89832 1 vboxnetflt
fglrx 1802572 32
snd_hda_intel 54024 4
snd_pcm 52740 3 snd_pcm_oss,snd_hda_intel
i2c_i801 8272 0
i2c_core 18068 1 i2c_i801
snd_timer 16520 2 snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 7496 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm

So there they are, both modules required to be loaded for virtualbox-bin-2.2.2. Then I tried to recompile it, and this is what I get:

Sure did, every time I reinstall virtualbox-bin, virtualbox-modules were reinstalled too as a dependency. Sorry 'bout shell outpu, I'll put it in quote next time. I'm pretty confused 'cause it did worked after kernel upgrade, and then, nothing.

Thankx, I found some kind of a solution, in my launcher properties I changed command from VirtualBox to /opt/bin/VirtualBox and it works. I still don't know what happened, I'll be gretfull if someone can explain what happened. But it's pretty important that it works....
