I apologize in advance that this question is asked way too often, but I would like it if I can load compiz-fusion on my Gentoo gnome desktop to add some spice to it. However, when I run "compiz-manager", the emerald window decorator won't load.

What's more interesting, if I run:
Code:
compiz-manager && emerald --replace
-- or --
compiz-manager &
emerald --replace
The window decorator STILL won't load. What's going on? Every search results I go to calims this is the solution, but it's not working for me.

I have a Radeon X1300 graphics card, and at least the desktop wall effect works fine when I run compiz fusion.

On a more important note, here's output for compiz-manage looks like:
Code:
compiz-manager

Trying again with indirect rendering:

try loading it with:

Code:
compiz --replace ccp --sm-disable

and enable window decorations under
Code:
ccsm

first after that you can use window decorations such as gtk-window-decorator or emerald

Enabling Render Acceleration and Composite

Code:

nvidia-xconfig --composite
nvidia-xconfig --render-accel
nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals

Enabling AIGLX

Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and add, to the Server Layout section, the following line:
Code:

Option   "aiglx"    "true"

Also add the following line to the Extensions section:
Code:

Option   "Composite"  "Enable"

and also:

Re: after installing compiz, i can't move windows around the screen
I think I might be able to help... basically to move them around I had to add the proper plugins to load:
1) Open up gconf-editor
2) Go apps / compiz / general / allscreens / options
3) modify the active_plugins, mine includes (in this order):
gconf
dbus
decoration
wobbly
fade
minimize
cube
rotate
zoom
scale
move (thats probably the one your missing)
resize
place
switcher
water
