Hi,

I'm trying to install dtc, and, after install all dependencies I've found, the install.sh say me this in the install procedure :

Quote:
===> DTC is now creating it's database:
mysql_cli_path is not set
mysqlshow_cli_path is not set
Setting up mysql cli mysql without password
===> Installing or upgrading DTC database: dtc apachelogsadmin backup clients commande config cron_job domain email_accouting fetchmail ERROR 1071 (42000) at line 1: Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes

And then it exit.

So, my mysql is up to date, I don't know how to fix it ...

I'm sorry, but what is DTC?
The problem seems to be caused by using UTF8: http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread.php?t=30925 if you can, switch the tables to latin1 and it will work.

Hi,
DTC --> Domain Technology Control
It's for web server, it configure qmail, apache, mysql, postfix .. all you want to have a server that work fine without have to edit manualy the config files.
(I don't have time for that anymore ...)

I've tried what they say in your link, set the default encoding to latin1, and, no changes ..
I've changed all occurence of utf8 in my.cnf for latin1, restart mysql and it's the same.
May be if I install phpmyadmin I'll can change this in it options ?

No, I think the .sql files that come with DTC have somewhere hardcoded the use of utf8. They must be replaced also.

Quote:
find . -name "*.sql" -print | xargs sed -i 's/utf8/latin1/g'

Do this in the dtc directory, i've seen .sql file in admin/tables/
but, still error about mysql key lenght ...

I've opened some .sql files, and, I don't see any utf8 or latin1 in =(

This is during install right? So you need to modify the tarball, tar it up again, regenerate checksums and install than.

What ?
It's not an ebuild, it's a tarball i've uncompressed, and in the directory who was in the tarball, there is an install.sh who ask few question and try to install dtc.

So, modify the tarball won't solve anything, right ?
I think an ebuild exist, but, it's for an old version of DTC ...
