Anyone knows other ways of contacting the developers of pentoo? The forums appear to be very inactive. No one answers, the questions were not even submitted by the moderator. I tried personal message to developers, and didn't receive any answer either.

I know little about pentoo, I am not sure the project is active these days. Did you try irc://irc.freenode.net/#pentoo ?

Moving to Unsupported Software, not about Gentoo.

Tried now irc channel. But it says
Code:
 Connecting to irc://irc.freenode.net/#pentoo , port 6667...
*E* Hostname `irc://irc.freenode.net/#pentoo ' not found

maybe the port is incorrect

It seems to work ok for me. For the sound of it, it looks like you are using an incorrect syntax for whatever your irc client is. For example, for weechat I do this:

Code:
weechat-curses irc://username@irc.freenode.net/pentoo

Where username is whatever nick you want to use, irc.freenode.net is the irc server, and pentoo is the name of the channel. I just tried and there are +20 persons connected in there. Each irc client might have a different syntax, and in graphical ones you might need to enter the details in some configuration dialog.

I tried ksirc (client that is in kde). there it asks port. Will install weechat. I managed so far to use Mibbit (to connect to irc via web) [url] http://www.mibbit.com/networks/freenode/channels.html [/url]
