Just edit build number and change name of ebuild file. Tested myself.

How did you get around the kernel module dependency?

Take a look in the zip for virtualbox. Theres a script in there that builds the kernel modules. (should really make a package for it).

Here are the module files tarred up so that you can just bump the virtualbox-modules ebuild's version number: http://www.speedyshare.com/303341813.html

virtualbox-ose-3.0.0_beta1 is committed to my overlay. It installed and run on my amd64 box however I could not start any of my guests because I use features only available in the PUEL version. I will have to add ebuilds for them in the morning.

Code:
john@jmd0 ~/jmd-gentoo/app-emulation $ eg commit -m "Added virtualbox-ose-3.0.0_beta1"

 create mode 100644 app-emulation/wine/wine-1.1.24.ebuild

[EDIT]
I think I have everything now. I tested virtualbox-bin and started a guest with 2 cores.

Code:
john@jmd0 ~/jmd-gentoo/app-emulation $ eg commit -m "Added virtualbox-3.0.0_beta1"

I just committed ebuilds for virtualbox-3.0.0_beta2. This includes virtualbox-bin and virtualbox-ose.

Thanks for the ebuilds - this version builds against 2.6.31 - the older versions do not because COMPAT_NET_DEV_OPS has been removed.

Thanks again

i have no idea what "Operace zamítnuta" means but it looks like a permission problem to me.
Use LOCALE=C to get messages in english next time pls.

And thanks for the ebuild drescherjm :-)

cheers

you are of course right - it means Operation denied as I translated it there - it is in CZ lang even though I put LOCALE=C

But what permission when I run it under root?

beta2 is in zugaina overlay, but triggers a sandbox-violation when trying to access /dev/dri/card0.

Is this sandbox-2? I am getting violations on lvm on several ebuilds with that.

BTW, Also this is also in the jokey overlay.

[QOUTE]Anyone got the virtualbox-modules-3.0.0 to build against gentoo-sources-2.6.30-r1 ? [/QUOTE]

Sorry, I have not tested that. I build against kernel 2.6.27-openvz on most of my machines.

Yes, sandbox-2.0.

However, beta2 is already outdated. Today 3.0.0 final got released!

The full version 3.0.0 has hit the jokey overlay. I am swamped with a network issue at work and a car in the shop so I will probably not bump my ebuilds or copy jokey's ebuilds to my overlay. Sorry if this causes anyone extra work.

I just renamed your beta2 ebuilds, not too much work, but I don't have direct3d support in xp guest, I did install guest additions, and wined3d in safe mode, but checkbox is still grayed and unavailable. That is with virtualbox-ose, I looked for some new configure option or something like that but I found nothing. Anyone have this working?

The ose version may not have this feature. You may need the bin version.

I thought that was enabled on my system. I may be wrong. I am not at home so I can not test. Are you sure you do not have a saved snapshot that virtualbox wants to resume from thus preventing you from making changes to the virtual system profile?

nop completly new VM. my old vm's were win2k and an ubuntu image. I removed my ~/.Virtualbox folder completly and started from scratch

the guest extensions (ie drivers) installed fine, I just have the tickbox grayed out - again beta2 here
