That might be because there is no upstream kdepim-runtime-4.4.85 package. Neither is there a kdepim-4.4.85 upstream package (though gentoo seems to provide one), users are supposed to use kdepim-4.4.4 along with kde sc 4.5.0. Does anyone have an idea how to install a kde sc 4.5 beta2 (including kdepimlibs-4.4.85) with kdepim from kde sc 4.4.4 as intended by upstream using gentoo ebuilds?

Strange thing, guys are talking about kde 4.4 there. With my settings, plasma wasn't leaking memory on 4.4 at all. Now with almost (i can't set them identically because plasma and all the kde is buggy as hell now) same settings it's leaking massivelly

I can set my desktop picture, my plasmoids and the folder view of plasma for one session. The next time, when i log in, only the settings of the toolbar are saved. everything else goes back to the initial stage. Can someone tell me how to save my plasma settings?

Yeah, the problem with plasma is present...Also i have problems with kmix and systray. KDE apps (for example amarok, ktorrent, kxkb, kmix, korganizer) don't have context menu in systray, they just don't react on right mouse button press. While non-KDE apps (such as skype, nm-applet, even smplayer) are working ok. Also kmix doesn't react on volume down multimedia button sometimes. Sometimes it does. On volume up it reacts always

I clicked on "activities" (a panel that can be similarly activated as one unlocks the widgets. It showed me a lost of "unnamed activities". After clicking on the last one, I got my previous desktop settings. And they are now reloaded properly.

However, I noticed that kstars has no telescope driver anymore, even when indiserver is selected in the useflags.

digikam-1.2.0-r1 does not even work with kde 4.5. I had to install digikam-9999. This works. Please, can someone repair the digikam ebuilds?

digikam-1.2.0 is for KDE-4.4, no ebuild could change that. You will have to wait for 1.3.0 but most of the time, the 9999 version just works fine until then.

I also see this memory leak in plasma. The advise from kde-bug database to remove systray or deactivate strigi-indexing has not helped much. Plasma eats and eats my memory. I wonder how they could release such a beta. Haven't they tested it at all? Is there some workaround or fix available?

indeed, kmail and akonadi have eaten all my e-mails, too (when one opens up kmail, it detects the old settings and imports all emails to local folder. Unfortulately, kmail crashed while copying them into the normal mailbox. I ended with the mails having copied but my local folder also contained them. As I did not want to have my emails in this local folder, I tried to change the local folder in this akonadi program. I also wanted to create a new mail account. Unfortunately, with the first action, akonadi somehow deleted all the mails from my local folder. With the second action, the mails in my mailbox folder were deleted. Without any warning that it would delete something. Fortunately, my e-mails were not really important....

dolphin crashed while I tried to extract a tar file with the context menu. I had to click on dolphin's settings, go to the configure dialog and then click on the services menu. Just by clicking at that menu, the crash disappears and the context menu now shows up correctly.....

The 4.5 kdepim-suite is alpha software right now and won't be included in the initial KDE 4.5 release, to all those who have been tinkering with it.

Having now installed the kde-9999 live ebuilds, I can report that the plasma memory leak seems to be gone. My computer is running since 10 o'clock and plasma-desktop is still by only 44.2 MB. with the same systemsettings than before.

I think the 9999 versions are in this case more stable than the current beta proposed for download by the kde project. The crash in dolphin was gone. Furthermore, kmail seems to be faster and more stable. The 85 version of kmail gave sometimes the output of another mail than the one whose headline was selected by mouse. This seems not to happen with the 9999 version of kmail.

That's good news. ;)

Be careful though, things could get worse again with the next commit.

Meanwhile, I discovered that KDE-4.4.85 wouldn't start with xorg-server-1.8.99.903 while fluxbox does work well (have to try e17 next).
