If you are using any of the live ebuilds outside of kde-base in the kde-testing overlay, the package.keywords files (under Documentation/) will be split from kde-live.keywords. There will now be two new files under Documentation/package.keywords/: kde-extras-live.keywords and koffice-live.keywords. koffice-live.keywords will contain the keywords for KOffice, and kde-extras-live.keywords will contain the keywords for everything else (except @kde-live and its dependencies, which will still be in kde-live.keywords)

I plan to do this split about this time tomorrow, barring any unforeseen problems.

If you want the new .keywords files, simply run
Code:
# mkdir -p /etc/portage/package.keywords/
# ln -s </path/to/overlay>/Documentation/package.keywords/koffice-live.keywords /etc/portage/package.keywords/
# ln -s </path/to/overlay>/Documentation/package.keywords/kde-extras-live.keywords /etc/portage/package.keywords/

after the update sometime tomorrow.

Edit: The update is now live.

The repos.conf trick solved the KDEDIR issue - should there be no mention of this in the KDE guide?

I'm running the latest 4.3 release candidate from kde-testing. In kmail, when I click on an html address, kde begins launching new instances of konqueror as fast as it can. I don't know how to kill it aside from rebooting the machine, and I don't know what terms I might search for in the kde bugtracker to see if anyone else has reported similar behavior. Does anyone else see this, and/or does could anyone suggest what process might at work so I can kill it and search for it in the bugtracker? I tried killing klauncher, which seems to halt it temporarily, but then it starts launching konqueror instances again after maybe a second.

As reported already, akonadi 4.3.61 fails to build here. When I try to build without "semantic-desktop", it fails at a totally different place:

Help needed and appreciated

Solved: synchronsing the overlay again the next day solved this problem.

Trying again to emerge akonadi with MAKEOPTS="-j1" gives exactly the same error I already reported on July 23

I'm seeing exactly this problem with 4.2.4 here (plain ~x86 box). Anything (e.g. konsole, kstars) that tries to open a URL in konqueror launches a seemingly neverending stream of new konq windows. Only way out is to kill X with ctrl+alt+bksp.

Anyone got any ideas? Seen nothing on the forums or bugzilla about this.

Temporary workaround is to edit the default browser app to e.g. firefox.

I hope i'm in the right place here. I use kde-testing on a gentoo system.
I had trouble setting the timezone in the digital and analog clock widgets in
kde-4.3.62 as non-root. The reason for this problem turned out to be that
kde-base/kdetimezoned was not installed. So perhaps something, e.g.
kde-base/plasma-addons should pull it.

Hi there,

i am using the kde-testing overlay, and want install kde4 from it

What i did:

Add kde-testing overlay, add package.unmask/ package.mask file.

emerge @kdebase-4.3
Code:

>>> Downloading 'http://mirrors.isc.org/pub/kde/stable/4.3.0/src/oxygen-icons-4.3.0.tar.bz2'
--2009-08-03 22:36:27--  http://mirrors.isc.org/pub/kde/stable/4.3.0/src/oxygen-icons-4.3.0.tar.bz2
Auflösen des Hostnamen »mirrors.isc.org«.... 204.152.184.134, 2001:4f8:0:2::1e
Verbindungsaufbau zu mirrors.isc.org|204.152.184.134|:80... verbunden.
HTTP Anforderung gesendet, warte auf Antwort... 404 Not Found
2009-08-03 22:36:27 FEHLER 404: Not Found.

!!! Couldn't download 'oxygen-icons-4.3.0.tar.bz2'. Aborting.
 * Fetch failed for 'kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0', Log file:
 *  '/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0/temp/build.log'

>>> Failed to emerge kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0, Log file:

>>>  '/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0/temp/build.log'

 * Messages for package kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0:

 * Fetch failed for 'kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0', Log file:
 *  '/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/oxygen-icons-4.3.0/temp/build.log'

The folder "stable" did not exist on the server, so did i do something wrong?
Am i using the wrong package.mask/keyword file (4.3)?
Or did i only have to wait until the problem is solved?

greetings
nihilist

KDE-4.3 would be released tomorrow. Just wait for it. It is not available for download yet.

If you are in a real hurry you could mask 4.3 and install 4.2.98 (which is 4.3_rc3) but I would suggest waiting for 24 hours. :)
