I'm trying to get some feedback about libcompizconfig-0.8.2-r2 and ATI or Intel as it works here with NVIDIA.
I'll post here and reply in the bug ASAP.

I am under nvidia and 0.8.2-r2 doesn't work with compizconfig-backend-kconfig. May be work without kconfig backend, I'm not test it with other backends.

I'm using nvidia on kde4 without kconfig backend. libcompizconfig-0.8.2-r2 messed everything up -- I've lost all my compiz settings and compiz wasn't working. I went back down to libcompizconfig-0.8.2 and things are somewhat working again. My only problem now (I hope) is that I have to restart compiz for any changes to take effect in ccsm -- very annoying.

the new version of libcompizconfig (libcompizconfig-0.8.2-r2) breaks compiz BIG time even on nvidia here. I wasn't even able to solve the problems by manually by selecting stuff in ccsm. Everytime i started ccsm again things i selected were unselected again. Only thing that solved this problem was the forced downgrade to 0.8.2.

Thank you NuLL3rr0r, you just gave me the right command ;-)

Code:

emerald --replace & LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 INTEL_BATCH=1 compiz --replace --indirect-rendering --sm-disable ccp &> /tmp/compiz.log

I've masked libcompizconfig-0.8.2-r2 as it was more broken than I thought.

I ran into trouble with the latest updates as well, here's my solution:
I downgraded to libcompizconfig-0.8.2 but that wasn't enough. I also tried using backend = gconf in my config.
Then I downgraded dev-libs/iniparser from 3.0b-r1 to 3.0b. That did it. Now everything is working again the way it did before.

I don't know if it was only iniparser or the combination libcompizconfig/iniparser... I'm to lazy to update libcompizconfig again to 0.8.2-r2. It's working now and I won't touch it again... at least not until I'm really bored :roll:

You're welcome!!

I just took it from here:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/compiz-fusion-has-no-borders-603911/

Also it seems they removed r2 from portage tree:

# emerge --sync
# emerge -s libcompizconfig
Searching...
[ Results for search key : libcompizconfig ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]

* x11-libs/libcompizconfig

Latest version installed: 0.8.2
Size of files: 308 kB
Homepage: http://www.compiz.org/
Description: Compiz Configuration System (git)
License: GPL-2

there is no r2 anymore...

I found this thread as I was battling this problem, none of the solutions worked for me, but it started working after I removed my .compiz directory:

Code:

$ rm -r ~/.compiz
$ compiz --replace&
$ # it works!
$ equery list compiz

Hello, i cant start compiz, no borders and the the debug show the same of not found file.

i tried deleting the .compiz, but it doesnt exist, is possible that my video card settings are affecting this? (modules, like dri or glx), if you have a nvidia please post your xorg.conf.

Any other help here?
