Code:

>>> Git pull in /usr/portage successful
>>> Synchronizing timestamps...

Thank's !

Using Funtoo or its derivatives probably causes the first line. Do you use Gentoo's portage repository or a different one?

Hi !

I'm using the Funtoo Portage tree along with an upstream to Gentoo's one.

I'm running Funtoo ~x86.

So it's perhaps good sense to submit this issue to Funtoo.

Do you get any output from this?
Code:
find /usr/portage/metadata/cache -type f -name ".metadata.x"

Since you are getting a cache error, this might help:
Code:
mv /var/cache/edb /tmp/.
emerge -DupN world

/var/cache/edb/* contains your portage cache, and it might have a bad entry somewhere. Technically you can delete this directory, but i figured moving it to /tmp would be safer. The emerge -DupN world will regenerate the data found in this directory. Note that that the emerge command will take a bit longer to run than usual, since it need to re populate the whole cache directory.

You might also want to run the find command in /var/cache/edb prior to moving it to see if you find anything.

I followed your directives. At this time... emerge -DupN world is running.

@mikegpitt

That didn't fix anything. The same error still happens when running an eix-sync or an emerge --sync.

It seems not to be that much critical. Updates take place even.

I'll be moving from Funtoo unstable to Gentoo testing soon because I have serious reasons to do so. That should solve the problem.

Thank's to you all... I'll come back later to close this post when a new Gentoo testing is up and running in place of Funtoo.

I think that's the file you need to delete. :P

You're right.

I deleted the file and reran eix-sync. It's now ok... no invalid cache entry anymore.

Thank's a lot !
