No, I've recompiled it a number of times since then.

Classic or Gallium?

I updated the kernel and mesa today, and openarena segfaults on start with r600g. Glxgears too. Classic works fine.

I'm assuming it's a small regression which will be ironed out soon.

"Soon" was about four hours ago. :) Some day I'll buy Jerome a beer.

And yep, r600g was segfaulting all over my carpet today. It has now stopped. Thanks.

EDIT: I should note that this isn't from master in this case. EGIT_BRANCH="7.10"

Have you tried just "classic gallium nptl" flags?

On that note, does llvm give better performance than Jerome's compiler? Or offer any benefits aside from being LLVM and awesome?

I vaguely remember having to install something regarding talloc.

(Re-)Emerge sys-libs/talloc?

reemerging didn't solved the issue.
problem still persists...
when last did you tried?

I haven't had any problems with Mesa for many months. I'll reemerge it when I get back home, but I'm pretty sure that everything will work.

Does playing with USE flags work? revdep-rebuild? Reemerging all the relevant X packages? Optimisations? Your situation definitely doesn't sound right.

tried the use flags, now it fails in the gallium part I think, revdep didn't found anything, I've reemerged only talloc.
I have no non standard Optimisations...

Yes, I know that this is the default now. Nevertheless, without "--as-needed" mesa links fine. I had the same problem.

Well, You can do in the following way:
Code:

# mkdir -p /etc/portage/env/
# echo 'LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1"' > /etc/portage/env/disabled-link-as-needed
# echo "media-libs/mesa disabled-link-as-needed" >> /etc/portage/package.env

I would like to know is it possible to put somethink like
Code:
LDFLAGS="${LDFLAGS//-Wl,--as-needed/}"
in /etc/portage/env/disable-link-as-needed? This would just remove "-Wl,--as-needed" from the already configured flags instead of building them from the empty value...

mod edit by i92guboj: for some reason, this post was messing the formatting of the whole thread page, making it difficult to read, so I changed it by adjusting all the lines to a reasonable length so the page width fits on a standard screen.

Code:
emerge -ptv mesa

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ] media-libs/mesa-9999  USE="classic gallium gles nptl -d3d -debug -llvm -motif -pic (-selinux)" VIDEO_CARDS="r600 radeon -i810 -i915 -i965 -intel -mach64 -mga -nouveau -r100 -r128 -r200 -r300 -savage -sis -tdfx -via -vmware" 0 kB [1]

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB
Portage tree and overlays:
 [0] /usr/portage/tree
 [1] /usr/portage/dist/local/layman/x11

the OSS drivers are in a quite usable state already (I'm beginning with 2.6.37) on Evergreen Hardware (5850)

youtube (flash, using adobe-flash 10.3 pre) videos are working, even fullscreen with compiz-fusion on,

scrolling via microgear mousewheel (logitech) is without lag in chromium (there always has been some kind of lag or jerkiness with fglrx until now)

<-- all that with power-state set to "low"

now it only needs to be stable and support suspend-to-disk and/or suspend-to-ram properly (haven't tested yet)

that's for gnome + compiz-fusion (0.8*) - let's see how KDE4 goes with kwin and compositing :P

kudos to the OSS devs & coders :)
