Also it would be good to cleanup the pro-audio BugTrack.

That would be great. I hope pro-audio maintainers will give commit access to some people like you, audiodef and me who really use this stuff for music creation.

I have some kind of access. I just haven't used it for a while. I have to double check and make sure I know how to commit stuff.

I found the answer (http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.audio.mediaapi/370) but I can't explain why mixxx-9999 do not compile...

Fix:
Code:

        sed -i  -e "s:if not platform == 'osx':if not platform == platform:" \

Do someone have a copy of jamin-presets? The ftp now asks for authentication...

I looked up jamin-presets some time ago and from what I understand, these add no functionality whatsoever to jamin. I think I had trouble emerging them, too. So you should be just fine without the presets. 8)

It is available again, but there is no zynaddsubfx-collection-0.7 (http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/files/zynaddsubfx-collection-0.7.tar.gz) :(

Did you actually get zynaddsubfx to compile? Lucky dude. I never have. Someone - I have a terrible memory, was it Keenblade? - recommended a zynaddsubfx-like program, the name of which I also can't remember.

Boy, am I helpful. :P

Just use x11-libs/fltk-1.1*.

csound? supercollider? amsynth? fluidsynth/qsynth?

I have more problems with jack2 and pulseaudio0.9.21.2-r1.
I have a realtime kernel and this is my /etc/security/limits.conf:
@audio - rtprio 90
@audio - nice -5
@audio - memlock 500000

Pulseaudio uses rtkit.

gpasswd -a niko pulse
gpasswd -a niko pulse-access
gpasswd -a root pulse
gpasswd -a root pulse-access

But when I try to connect to jack I receive:
~ $ pulseaudio -nF /etc/pulse/jack.pa
W: module-jack-sink.c: JACK error >Cannot use real-time scheduling (RR/5)(1: Operation not permitted)<
W: module-jack-sink.c: JACK error >AcquireRealTime error<

It doesn't happen if I set realtime-scheduling = no in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf.

I have no problem if I do not use the jack backend (jack-sink).

In the jack2 source code I found:
Code:

if (fThread.AcquireRealTime(GetEngineControl()->fClientPriority) < 0) {
  jack_error("AcquireRealTime error");
}

Can someone explain this strange error?

Yep, that was me. I suggest media-sound/yoshimi instead of zynaddsubfx. The one in pro-audio works fine.

Yeah, that was it. I couldn't get it to compile, though. I'll try again and see if I can troubleshoot it.

EDIT: Hey, it just compiled! Now I'll play around with it. :D

I do not know whether this is the right place, or if anybody already posted this. But I keep getting the following errors on some of the ebuilds of the overlay:
Code:
* Please fix your package (media-sound/freqtweak-0.7.0_pre20070214-r1) to not use unipatch-001.eclass
 * Please fix your package (media-sound/museseq-1.9999) to not use kde-functions.eclass
 * Please fix your package (media-sound/rosegarden-9999) to not use kde.eclass
 * Please fix your ebuild to not inherit the deprecated qt3.eclass
/var/lib/layman/pro-audio/media-sound/rosegarden/rosegarden-9999.ebuild: line 39: need-kde: command not found
/var/lib/layman/pro-audio/media-sound/rosegarden/rosegarden-9999.ebuild: line 40: need-qt: command not found
(Generated by eix-update.)

Can those ebuilds be fixed?

You can easily fix this yourself and avoid the wait! Do this:

Code:

cd /usr/portage/local/layman/pro-audio/media-sound/tuxguitar
ebuild tuxguitar-0.6.ebuild digest

That should get rid of the error.

I know I can do that, but that is not a solution, that is workaround. That should be fixed in overlay anyway.

No argument from me. I didn't know you knew that. Sometimes it can take time for a fix to get into the overlay, as it's just a few people working on it when time permits, and I wanted you to be able to not have to wait. 8)
