What version of media-libs/celt do you have? Try 0.7.1 if it is another version works here. (an arch forum refers to this)

papapenguin, could you install media-libs/celt-0.7.1, just to test, if it is needed? Or it was the output after emerging celt? It takes only 41 seconds to emerge. Then you can unmerge it. And what do these output?

thanks keenblade, the problem was with python...it wouldn't compile under python3.1...

Getting around this is easy, if not the "official" way to do it:

FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge libffado

It's a recurring bug in sandbox. It doesn't come up often, but when it does, I have no qualms using this method to get around it.

Well, it's not a fix :P
The bad thing is that when you do an emerge -ave @world it will stop when it will reach ffado and it's so annoying...

As a workaround for the annoyance, you can use this if you have recent portage:
Code:

emerge -ave @world --exclude="libffado"

Then portage will skip libffado and update the rest.

Is it possible to create a new set and do something like emerge -ave @world --exclude @excluded ?

I'd be suprised and be happy, if it works like that. I am sure that we have bash gurus whose gonna come with an interesting solution.

emerge -ave world --keep-going should help, too. Also check for an upgrade (or even a downgrade, if you're on ~arch) to sandbox and make a bug report.

PostPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:33 pm    Post subject: seq24 crashing Reply with quote

Hallo!

Well, I feel like pro-audio isn't a very stable overlay, cuz I've had some problems with compiling some stuff (from having to download the package myself to having to install a previous version..). I'm probably missing something tho, because I'm very new to this whole linux audio stuff. =)

I was having compiling issues with seq24 and ended up masking the 0.9.0. Now I have the 0.8.7 and I have some questions about it:

1- It doesn't show up at the jack connections. Is there a special opt to add when I start the program?
2- It is crashing whenever I try to create a new box in the main window. Oh my. What to do?
3- Also, theres no ~/.seq24rc file or ~/.seq24usr. Is it reaaally bad?

Thank ya all!

I am looking into buying a Beyerdynamic Headzone Pro Monitor System which has a Firewire interface.
On the specs of the device it says it is compatible with mac coreaudio drivers.
How would the chances of getting it to work with ffado or linux in general be?

bacon, check out this page to see if there's a fix in there somewhere: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-812578-highlight-.html

If it's unstable, it's because we live on the cutting edge... and sometimes we get cut! :lol: The overlay depends on its users to use the software under various conditions and let the maintainers know if anything seems amiss. I'm not a maintainer, but since I use Gentoo for professional audio, I try to fix things and post fixes to the thread above. Don't get discouraged, tweaking and debugging is just the nature of ~arch, which is often required for packages in the overlay. In my experience, Gentoo ~arch is far more stable than Windows. I've gotten things - native Windows things! - running in Wine when they wouldn't run on my XP partition. That says a lot right there.

Dorsail, check out http://www.ffado.org/ , noting in particular the device support section. If the device you want to use isn't listed, try contacting them about it to see if they're already at work on it. If you decide to get a device anyway and you discover whether it does (or does not) work with ffado, let them (and us) know.

Try ffado.
I just bought a Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 to replace my Fast Track Ultra and I hope to have no headaches this time. It has been a pain to get full software support for the Ultra and now that it works like a charm I need more inputs :?

Checking for header jack/session.h : not found

What are you trying to compile?

I think it is gx_head. Here is the description from its home page:
"gx_head is a simple guitar mono tube amplifier simulation based on the work we have done in the guitarix project."

More fixes for the (hopefully temporary) offline kokkinizita.net: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-812578-start-25.html

I tried to do a version bump for guitarix (I packaged a snapshot from svn) but it doesn't work.
If I try to compile it without using the ebuild it works fine, that's strange. Can someone help me?

Code:
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking guitarix-0.14.0.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/guitarix-0.14.0/work
>>> Source unpacked in /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/guitarix-0.14.0/work
>>> Preparing source in /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/guitarix-0.14.0/work/guitarix-0.14.0 ...
>>> Source prepared.
>>> Configuring source in /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/guitarix-0.14.0/work/guitarix-0.14.0 ...

niko@gentoo ~ $ ldd /usr/bin/calfjackhost
linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007fffbcf13000)
calf.so => not found

niko@gentoo ~ $ ls /usr/lib64/calf/
calf.a calf.la calf.so calf_gtk

Does someone else has this problem with calf-9999?

Well, this isn't nice:

> * media-libs/portaudio
>>>>> Latest version available: 19.20071207
>>>>> Latest version installed: 19_pre20090514
>>>>> Size of files: 1,087 kB
>>>>> Homepage: http://www.portaudio.com
>>>>> Description: An open-source cross platform audio API.
>>>>> License: as-is

The 2007 -one is in this overlay and the 2009 -one was in the main portage tree and has been superseded by portaudio-19_pre20110317.
