Im sorry, I don't know if this thread is well posted. But I have a problem with Player/stage.

I installed player/stage succesfully by pure luck... because Im a complete noob on gentoo and I cant believe I even installed gnome.

But when It cant open the simple.cfg

Quote:
err: unable to open color database /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt : No such file or directory (stage.c stg_lookup_color)
/usr/libexec/<unknown>: No such file or directory.

It says that the dir doesn't exist, but Im pretty sure I checked.

UPDATE:

Someone told me that if I saw that error to write this:

Quote:
ln -s /usr/lib/X11/rgb.txt /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt

But:

Code:
ln: creating symbolic link `/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt': No such file or directory

And is right... there is no rgb.txt... what do I do?

I beg for your help, and I tank you in advance. ^^

(If I commited a mistake please let me know)

Emerge "x11-apps/rgb" if you don't already have it, and then if "Player/stage" still gives you the same error, you can run `ln -s /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt`, but make sure "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/" and all parent directories exist first.

Emerged x11-apps/rgb succesfully.

Exists [/usr/share/X11/] but there is no rgb.txt and there is no[/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt] at all.

What did I did wrong?

Could you post the output of `equery f rgb` (or if you don't have gentoolkit installed, `grep obj /var/db/pkg/x11-apps/rgb-*/CONTENTS | cut -d ' ' -f 2`)?

Code:
[ Searching for packages matching rgb... ]
* Contents of x11-apps/rgb-1.0.3:

/usr/bin/showrgb
/usr/share
/usr/share/X11

/usr/share/doc/rgb-1.0.3/ChangeLog.bz2
/usr/share/man
/usr/share/man/man1
/usr/share/man/man1/showrgb.1.bz2

So /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt does exist?

What does 'file /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt' return?

edit; run `mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/` before trying to make that symlink.

What it seems is that the location of the file was wrong where they told me to search... but still the directory [/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt] doesn't exist.

I don't think you need it but anyway:

Yeah, just create it with `mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/` , and then create the symlink.

Having no idea what it's refering to, and seeing as how player/stage isn't even in portage, I think you'll have to look elsewhere for help, perhaps the player/stage mailing lists (after reading the docs, of course)?
