I would like to have two versions of truecrypt available on my system. I have an older version installed (4.3) and also want to install the latest. Is there a way to do this through portage?

You can only install 2 versions of the same package if they are slotted (like Qt or KDE). I just peeked, and truecrypt isn't slotted.

While true crypt isn't slotted, you could make your own ebuild and put in in your own overlay and slot it and have it name the binary differently (or different install directory) and that would let you do it "though portage."
