I've not used sabyon before, but I would check your /etc/make.conf to make sure that portage isn't set to use sabyon mirrors or overlays, and then execute an `emerge --sync`. After that you can execute an `emerge -DuN world` to update everything to Gentoo's portage.

BTW - You might find it easier to just start a new gentoo install using the handbook -- it's pretty straightforward, especially for knowledgeable users.

Also haven't used sabayon in ages, but my understanding is that it fills world with every package installed, so before emerging world it might be wise to pare that down to only the apps you really need and let portage resolve the deps for you. Especially given that some of those may have only been in the sabayon repos.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Unsupported Software (Sabayon).

Then I suggest you install Gentoo properly, from the beginning, per the Handbook. Sabayon is best installed for itself, not as a kickstart to Gentoo. Over time that approach leads to far more frustration than necessary.

In fact, if you want to install Gentoo, then you really need to install it the Gentoo way with the handbook :P

Or in this case, frustration at the start!
