I am having quite a headache with the radeon stuff since I decided to change from fglrx. Right now I am experiencing yet another annoyance. I post this in unsupported because the mesa versions in portage don't even support r600 chips, so I am using the one from the x11 overlay. For that same reaspon, please, don't even dare to suggest to use the emul- package, because, as you already guessed it doesn't contain r600_dri.so either.

So, I want suggestions on how to get a true multilib mesa without completely having to break or recompile my OS (because for that I would simply just install x86 to another partition). If anyone can suggest anything, I am all ears. I've looked around but I haven't managed to find a simply solution, maybe there's none.

I am just too tired of all this radeon stuff to think clearly right now.

Thanks in advance.

You can use multilib overlay. There is mesa 7.5.2 with lib32 use flag in it. You can edit ebuild a little and get mesa 7.6 with multilib or even 7.7rc

That's what I am doing finally, it seems there's no quick workaround. It will take some time, though, because the dependencies are a bit fuzzy and there are lot of circle deps which will have me occupied for quite some time.

Thanks for the pointer :D

You could try a 32bit chroot, though I have no idea how well OpenGL works in that situation (I used it for 2D apps in Wine mainly)

I'm interested too.... Is there any way to have mesa 7.11-devel with R600g without having to completely destroy my system?
