Wondering if anyone else has had any issues starting mysql within funtoo. In the past when I've used Gentoo mysql starts perfectly, however when I try to start mysql in Funtoo I get the -

091221 16:28:32 [ERROR] Do you already have another mysqld server running on port: 3306 ?

I've tried commenting out the sockets option but to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Check netstat -l to see what other processes are listening in on TCP port 3306. Sounds like you have mysqld already running, somehow.
