ASUS A6000KT laptop doesn't seem to wake-up after hibernate-ram, no response (shutdown button, ctrl+alt+del) just a black screen, however hardware wakes-up as the fan is working and LED stops flashing. I've followed the gentoo power management guide. Kernel support is enabled.

emerge --info output:

Maybe try the kernel boot option
Code:
acpi_sleep=old_ordering

Just a guess.

I have same problem, but I know that the network is up and running and I can connect into the machine using SSH.

It's only the display that stays black.

amd64.

Interesting. I've been having trouble diagnosing my desktop. Sleep-to-ram used to work fine, recently started doing this most of the time. Occasionally it gets something on-screen, but it's just error codes I don't recognize, and I keep forgetting to photograph them. Also amd64. I'll check whether it's on the network next time.

Problem solved for me, see this post
Basically ditched open source drivers and went to nvidia closed source ones.
I also noticed a significant speed improvement with the nvidia ones too.
