RawTherapee changed license with it's latest release. From now on it's GPL v3.

I've compiled it today and it works. I had to emerge media-libs/libiptcdata to compile, but I don't know what other dependencies it has as I already have some photomanipulation software installed.

Maybe someone could make an ebuild? I'm not skilled enough to make proper ebuild myself.

Hi iss,
I d/led it too but it fails to compile.
It complains about undefined references in /usr/lib64/libtiff.
I tried downgrading media-libs/tiff but get the same error.
Gerard.

I compiled it successfully on x86 and amd64 with media-libs/tiff-3.9.2. There were some warnings but no error.

Can you post error message and few lines before it?

No,I deleted everything.
I decided to forget about yet another raw processing program.
I already have ufraw and rawstudio.
Thanks anyway,
Gerard.

I've tried Ufraw and Rawstudio, but I find RawTherapee more powerful and easier to use.

Everyone use whatever fits them.
Thanks.

Being curious I tried again.
I get the same error:

I checked the libs and I can't find anything out of whack.
Like I already wrote in my earlier post I tried downgrading tiff w/o result.
This happens at the end of a long compile.
I have a hunch there's an easy solution but it's beyond my knowledge.

Edit:I checked tiff.It was installed with the "jbig" USE flag.

Gerard.

see that is why i am going in circles!!!

compile tiff with -jbig and it will all work out.

now dont ask me why. My guess it is not looking into the libjbg.a sitting next to libtiff.a. nm showed all symbols.

Thanks a lot shrimp123!
I did what you suggested and it compiled fine.
I am not sure I like it,there's no help.
I will search their site and see if they've got anything.
Haven't found yet how to change color temp for instance.
Thanks again,
Gerard.

Edit:It's quite good.
There's a pdf manual available on the site (for the previous edition)
that's very good.
One thing I miss is a possibility to set Exposure Values.
With that you can produce 3 pics for HDRI programs.
But it might be possible to use the exposure settings.

yes. the pdf is pretty neat.

3-exposures : it is one of the most requested features. wanna volunteer :)

Few questions remain:

1\ ebuild with suitable USE paramters.
2\ can i have the settings tab have (previous) opened links?

Because I don't know what effect tiff with -jbig USE flag
will have on other programs I re-emerged it with +jbig.
Didn't affect RT in any way.
So it's probably a compile error only.
Gerard.

I just d/led svn (26) and compiled it.
No problems.

Rawtherapee doesn`t compile anymore since the last world update a few days ago.

Code:

home/martin/RawTherapee30/rtengine/imageio.cc:722: warning: 'png_struct_def::io_ptr' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/png.h:1110)
/home/martin/RawTherapee30/rtengine/imageio.cc:722: warning: 'png_struct_def::io_ptr' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/png.h:1110)

/home/martin/RawTherapee30/rtengine/imageio.cc:731: warning: 'png_struct_def::io_ptr' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/png.h:1110)

make[1]: *** [rtengine/CMakeFiles/rtengine.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
martin@erdiemobil ~/RawTherapee30 $

Even all distributed binarys do not work:

Code:

(rt:15584): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks",
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Gdk::PixbufError'
./rtstart: line 4: 15584 Aborted                 `dirname "$0"`/rt
martin@erdiemobil ~/RawTherapee30a1 $

Does anybody have an idea or workaround for this?

Thanks
Erdie

I'm after successful libpng upgrade. I checked out source from http://code.google.com/p/rawtherapee/source/checkout and it compiled ok. I only had to emerge media-libs/libiptcdata.

I've been looking at building a RAW processing box for some time. It looks like I'll be adding this to my list of piece of software to check out once I get the hardware finalized.
