PostPosted: Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:01 pm    Post subject: miyaz's scaler crashes Xorg Reply with quote

Hey all, I've downloaded miya's latest scaler tool (the version that checks for ps3fb vram and complains if it's too low) and then compiled it with -m32 and -m64 as specified in the Makefile (at first it was m64 but then I switched it to m32 to test).

Problem is, whenever I run the scaler program, even without an argument, the scaler crashes. scaler -h works, and scaler prints out some error messages like Function not implemented if I run it in a tty and X isn't running, but when I run scaler in Xorg, it locks up hard. The mouse pointer doesn't even move, I have to switch to the console I ran "startx" from and Ctrl-C. When I switch to that console, no text displays - it only displays after I type Ctrl-C. Then I see the backtrace and the messages from startx. I've tried a lot - setting ps3-video-mode to the lowest, ps3fb in powers of 2... nothing worked.

Anybody had scaler crash on them? As far as I can tell, I seem to be the only one with this problem. I have the libspe2 libraries installed, and spu-gcc too. Here's my Xorg.0.log:

I've got it - it wasn't X's fault at all. I didn't know that in order to use the SPUs, one must mount the spufs. Still, that shouldn't have crashed. I only figured it out because fscaler didn't behave the same way that miya's scaler did.
