I'd really like to try this out, but it's not in portage or sunrise, although google reveals that several people are using Consonance on gentoo. Should I be looking in a different overlay for it?

You should get the source and build it, as our ancestors did. Do you really think they used portage in ancient Rome? ;)

The Romans were famous for building roads, bridges, and aqueducts. I'm sure they didn't portage in the civilized parts of the Roman Empire. They went straight to the source - bricks and wood.

Oh, I was hoping there would be an ebuild somewhere...

I don't like having software in my computer that isn't managed by the package manager. What's if I want to uninstall it cleanly?

In most cases it's just the binary and man page. Just write it down in your log.
Or, you can create a simple ebuild, it's not too hard.

Consonance has a working 'make uninstall' iirc, been ages since I used it however so may have changed.

Keep in mind that Consonance is no longer developed upstream. So my ebuild (which I just updated) will still work, but if anything breaks, or you'd like a new feature, you'll have to code it yourself.

I don't know if your e-build works, since it won't merge on my system. It fails at the ./configure stage because it requires libcdio_paranoia-0.80 and doesn't seem to have puled in a dependency for it.
