Good day everyone.
This is an issue that as plagued me for a while and I couldn't find a fix for it anywhere.

When vmware-server 2 starts or stop, you have the option to configure it to automatically startup/shutdown virtual machines. However, this does NOT work out of the box.

To make it work, root needs to be part of the vmware group. As this is not documented anywhere, i figured I'd at least post it here so other people can find it.
