I did get the add ons to work, there is a flag in "about:config" where you can tell it not to check for compability.

yeah - I used that in the past, too

I just was too lazy to do that manually

afaik "add-on compatibility reporter" achieves the same

Has anyone else been unable to print to files with Firefox over the past couple of months? I'm guessing since I can still print to PDF/PS with other programmes, that this isn't a problem with cairo 1.10....

Edit:
Nevermind, just reverted this and voila, printing to files works again. For some reason anarchy seemed to have reckoned doing so without cups was silly, which I think is silly. "Printing" to PDF is of great use even in the absence of a printer.

nope

xulrunner 1.9 & 2.0 and firefox 3.6* & 4.0* don't build with cairo 1.10* and 1.9* so

Code:
quickpkg --include-config=y x11-libs/cairo

Code:
emerge -1 =x11-libs/cairo-1.8* && quickpkg --include-config=y x11-libs/cairo && emerge -1 xulrunner firefox && emerge -1 --usepkgonly =x11-libs/cairo-1.10*

should do the trick

when the next update for xulrunner & firefox arrives you can simply emerge the archived package:

Code:
emerge -1 --usepkgonly =x11-libs/cairo-1.8* && emerge -1 xulrunner firefox && emerge -1 --usepkgonly =x11-libs/cairo-1.10*

Firefox/xulrunner beta 6 compiled just fine for me against cairo-1.10.0-r3

FF 3.6.9 also built fine against cairo-1.10.0, but there was a problem with animated icons.

Note: I do not have the qt4 flag enabled for cairo-1.10.0 as it causes segfaults in some programs on my system.
Note2: I do not use paludis

Does anyone have an ebuild for firefox-bin beta? I know I can download directly from mozilla, but I want it to be installed to the same location as the tree firefox-bin so external programs will open links in it. I tried to search and found only https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-835538-start-0.html, which didn't get an answer.

I assume the ebuild still works, I used it a couple of weeks ago

Does anyone else have the problem where the "new tab" button doesn't work? It worked in beta5, but none of the tab-bar buttons work (new tab, group your tabs, etc) in beta6.

I am not sure if it's due to removing qt4 from the cairo use flags, but it could just be the version.... anyways, am I the only one having this issue?!

try creating a new profile or starting with an empty .mozilla directory - for me that made a large difference

with my old directory nothing would work - with a new on (== empty) everything worked again

I've never gotten the hang of trying to understand or write ebuilds, I don't know why it's looking for a file in that location. Does someone have a fix for this?

Does anyone else have the problem where the "new tab" button doesn't work? It worked in beta5, but none of the tab-bar buttons work (new tab, group your tabs, etc) in beta6.

I am not sure if it's due to removing qt4 from the cairo use flags, but it could just be the version.... anyways, am I the only one having this issue?!

try creating a new profile or starting with an empty .mozilla directory - for me that made a large difference

with my old directory nothing would work - with a new on (== empty) everything worked again

Tried that, and it worked until I set up everything how I like it.... maybe it's the sync that's killing it?? I am gonna try adding and removing the addons and stuff later tonight... I only use 3 though (adblock, shareaholic, and google reader watcher) It seemed as soon as I set up sync and those 3, the tabs stopped working properly.

It's only in this newer version too. Also, I'm on KDE4, using qt-curve.

I just added:

gnome-mplayer-0.9.9.2_p1762
gecko-mediaplayer-0.9.9.2_p1762

To Portage, without KEYWORDS for now.

Those should work with xulrunner-2 and new firefox.

Just add:

media-video/gnome-mplayer **
www-plugins/gecko-mediaplayer **

to /etc/portage/package.keywords

Enjoy

I have discovered it ONLY starts once I move my tabs up to the top (which is one of the reasons I started using the beta in the first place *sigh*) .... The moment I select "tabs on top" the tab buttons no longer work, and moving them back down don't REstart them working again.

Hopefully it'll be fixed in beta7. I'll just live with it for now I suppose.

Same error here, USE="-qt4" compiles just fine.
Haven't looked further into it yet and won't have the time to do so in the next days.
Qt4-packages are from ~amd64, if that should be relevant. 4.6.3 or something, I'm not at my box right now.

Firefox 4.0-pre7 fails here with Qt4 (4.7.0) and GCC-4.5.1, but works fine with -qt4.

Exactly same here, amd64.

[EDIT]

Even last commit to mozilla overlay doesn't help for qt4 USE flag attemp:
