Hey guys... this time around we have two new patches out for 2.6.34:

32bit:

wget http://www.linuxdna.com/dna-2.6.34-intel32.patch

64bit:

wget http://www.linuxdna.com/dna-2.6.34.1-intel64-0.patch

We recommend using the latest icc out and Nichts at our google group has created an ebuild with the latest icc version ready to go:

http://groups.google.com/group/linuxdna/web/icc-11.1.072.ebuild

You may refer to this thread to get it working if you need help:

https://groups.google.com/group/linuxdna/browse_thread/thread/a51aa9f6ce1ad26c

Also here is a link to the LinuxDNA kernel make installation guide:

http://www.linuxdna.com/install.pdf

Finally Chi has updated his latest patch to get Firefox 3.6.3 working with ICC:

wget http://www.linuxdna.com/dna-32bit-firefox-3.6.3.patch

The Firefox patch works with both -ipo1 and the -pgo flags. Jeroen is busy working on getting -ipo1 working with the actual kernel itself... that will add quite a lot of performance once it is working but the flag option is already in the patch... please help out and give your feedback! 8)

Code:
ld: /usr/lib/libirc_s.a: No such file: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [fs/exportfs/exportfs.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fs/exportfs] Error 2
make: *** [fs] Error 2

libirc_s.a belongs to icc and is there in /opt/intel/Compiler/11.1/072/lib/intel64/libirc_s.a
but why is it looking at the wrong place?

It's not looking at the wrong place. What do you want to do if you must install different versions of ICC? Do you want to link it each time you have a new kernel patch and/or have a new Intel Compiler with the original libirc_s.a?

What exactly does this patch? enable kernel compilation with icc? On the other hand did you notice any performance improvement by compiling the kernel with icc? and firefox with icc? I just intalled latest icc version from portage but i'm looking for information about which packages could be compiled with icc and which issues may appear. Then i also would like to know if i'm going to notice any performance improvement.
Thanks in advanced :)
