Hello,

I have some IBM power4 & 5 (pseries type 9114 & 9111); and I'like to see how manage a beowulf cluster on them. I decided to test the gentoo process, and I read in first the Documentation here.
It is said :

Gentoo's Universal Installation CD

The Universal Installation CD is called install-ppc64-universal-2008.0.iso and uses 460 MB. You can use this Installation CD to install Gentoo, and you can even use it to install Gentoo without a working internet connection.

But well I can't find any iso of that type on any mirrors...
The stage3 seems to be there, but where are the install ppc64 CDs?!

Rgds,

It's not named install-ppc64-universal-2008.0.iso; that's long since been deprecated. (For good reason, too. Don't use it.) The correct install media is right where the Handbook says it is. Here, for instance.

Well, thanks for the tips.
Maybe I have done wrong research but I confirm that the PPC64 Handbook explain that the correct install media IS install-ppc64-[minimal|universal]-2008.0.iso!
Here my path research :

0°) 'Gentoo'(www.gentoo.org)
1°) ---> Get Started; 'Gentoo Handbook'(http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/)
2°) ---> View the Handbook,Latest version,ppc64 (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc64.xml)
3°) ---> Gentoo Linux PPC64 Handbook,Choosing the Right Installation Medium (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc64.xml?part=1&chap=2)

Downloading and Burning the Installation CDs
You can download any of the Installation CDs (and, if you want to, a Packages CD as well) from one of our mirrors (http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors2.xml)

And there there's effectively no install-ppc64* iso files on this servers (as I already said).

You gave me a link to the PPC installation iso, and NOT for the PPC64. My machines have a IBM power4 and IBM Power5 processors which are all 64bits.
PowerPC processors are different of IBM Power (even if they are approximatively based on the same micro architecture), and I am pretty sure that would not work.

I think you need to refresh your browser and/or proxy cache. The Handbook no longer says that. Apologize about the link; you're right that I linked to the non-64-bit. :)
