I seem to be getting file size error.
Code:
Downloaded 5950.3 kilobytes in 3:16 seconds. (30.33 KB/s)
('Filesize does not match recorded size', 6093074, 6094042)
!!! Fetched file: icedtea6-1.8.1.tar.gz VERIFY FAILED!
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got:      6093074
!!! Expected: 6094042
Refetching... File renamed to '/usr/portage/distfiles/icedtea6-1.8.1.tar.gz._checksum_failure_.YvXk1B'

!!! Couldn't download 'icedtea6-1.8.1.tar.gz'. Aborting.
 * Fetch failed for 'dev-java/icedtea-6.1.8.1', Log file:
 *  '/var/tmp/portage/dev-java/icedtea-6.1.8.1/temp/build.log'

emerge --sync should fix this.

No still doesn't work.
the bug is about changelog file while my error is about the actual download itself.

If deleting the tarball and retrying(refetching) doesn't work file a new bugreport. As a workaround you can also create a mainfest yourself. Use "ebuild <the failing ebuild> manifest". Do this only if you trust the tarball.

if i manually fetch the tarball from the site and then genrate the manifest then it fails at the compilation stage telling unexpected end of file.

I'd rather discourage regenerating the manifest yourself. Have you tried using a different rsync mirror, or emerge-webrsync?
