I installed the kde overlay, and I've been building up a new computer with (hopefully) KDE4.5, but it's not finding any of the source tarballs anywhere. Every single request for a kde<foo>-4.5.0.tar.bz2 package is giving me a 404 or a No Such Directory on .../kde/stable/4.5.0/src. Are the 4.5.0 ebuilds in the kde overlay just in preparation for the official 4.5 release on the 10th, or should they actually be usable at this point? 4.5 was tagged a week ago, so I figured maybe it would be buildable now.

Kde devs had to delay 4.5.0 one week, or so they say. :(

which is a good thing - since they're adding useful features :)

I'll just give the 4.5.9999 packages a shot then; I hope they're grabbing from source control, rather than tarballs that don't exist :)

As of an hour ago, it was released, but still masked. Waiting for mirrors, I suppose.

Announcement was already made. :D http://kde.org/announcements/4.5/ Or is this not the actual final announcement?

They're in the repo mirrors, at least some mirrors: ftp://kde.mirrors.tds.net/pub/kde/stable/4.5.0/src/

Checked a few others, and 4.5.0 tarballs are in all I checked, with MD5SUMS dated Aug.10.

If Gentoo doesn't officially unmask in a few hours, I'll unmask myself, and give it a try, if the ebuilds show up on syncing. :)

Mandriva Cooker already has the basic 4.5.0 rpms up, which installed OK, so it shouldn't be long. 8)

My app launcher menu was empty after the update to 4.5.0 and I had to run kbuildsycoca in a terminal to get all of my menu items back. Just letting you know in case the same happens to someone else.

emerge always does that for me. in fact it does it when installing each of the 200+ kde packages, taking about 5 seconds each time...

Any easy way to get around the blockers. I mean it appears the kde-4.5 is blocking on every single package from kde-4.4.5

Code:
[blocks B     ] kde-base/kwrite:4.5[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kwrite:4.5[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kwrite-4.4.5)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/system-config-printer-kde:4.5[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/system-config-printer-kde:4.5[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/system-config-printer-kde-4.4.5)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/kdeedu-meta:4.5[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kdeedu-meta:4.5[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kdeedu-meta-4.4.5)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/libtaskmanager:4.4[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/libtaskmanager:4.4[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/libtaskmanager-4.5.0)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/kdebase-data:4.5[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kdebase-data:4.5[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kdebase-data-4.4.5)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/kbounce:4.5[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kbounce:4.5[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kbounce-4.4.5)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/kalzium:4.4[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/kalzium:4.4[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/kalzium-4.5.0)
[blocks B     ] kde-base/okteta:4.4[-kdeprefix] ("kde-base/okteta:4.4[-kdeprefix]" is blocking kde-base/okteta-4.5.0)

...

[edit] I got frustrated and unmerged the entire kde-4.4. Lets see how that goes.[/edit]
[edit2]Looks like its working

Code:
ould you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y
>>> Verifying ebuild manifests
>>> Starting parallel fetch
>>> Emerging (1 of 275) kde-base/kde-env-4.5.0 from kde
>>> Emerging (2 of 275) virtual/jpeg-0 from multilib
>>> Installing (1 of 275) kde-base/kde-env-4.5.0

[/edit2]

drescherjm & ToeiRei,
See other thread P.31, which discusses these: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-775571-start-750.html

Some of us aren't sure it's going to be in the tree. Possibly waiting for 4.5.1, so some of us are using the overlay, with a few little problems cropping up.

Yes, it always used to run it for me too. I don't know why this one time I had a problem with it, I thought maybe something was left out of the ebuild... or perhaps something just went wacko on my first login?
