This came out last night. I am surprised that there is no discussion on it. Anyway, does anyone know if it works well with kde-base/kdebase-meta-4.4.5 and x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-256.44? Are there any issues to consider when upgrading from X.Org Server 1.8? Are there any known regressions in the code itself?

Edit: I am changing the title to indicate that the new X.Org Server has been released.

The nvidia 235.44 driver seem to have some problems with rendering text?

Konsole is superslow.

Anyone getting the same?

I'm running the dev version of xfce, just installed it, seems to be running fine, text is fine,
Had to add the ignore abi version, and modify the nvidia ebuild, to make it shut up about xorg version

Ok so far

Edit to add: Have played several games under wine, assorted system tasks, no problems/glitches.

No issues to report here on a thindpad with i915 KMS xf86-video-intel-2.12.0. World of Goo plays great and 720p video decodes smooth as always.

maybe the devs are leaving it out of portage 'cause it has some bugs
(see kde 4.5 ...)

So I rebuilt my world with xorg-server-1.9 and my super GTX260 Nvidia Driver 256.44
and it still does the same.

Which is Konsole scrollback is super slow
+ everything is laggy (read rendered slowly).

I do not know the cause.

It's the crazy way Qt uses bitmap fonts. The nvidia folks say they'll try to improve this situation, but really, it's Qt. Search the nvnews.net forums, plenty of discussion about it.
