Hi there,

I already tried it in the German Forum, but I think here it's better placed.

I wanted to start kvpnc via kdesu and got a kernel oops. To exclude kvpnc I tried to start systemsettings for root. Means again with kdesu -> same result.

Code:

I remember long time ago when kde4 was in a very alpha stadium, it didn't run on reiser4 too.

I can reproduce it on 2 different computers (x86 and amd64) all running with root system on Reiser4.

Kernel is Gentoo Sources 2.6.35-r1 with official Reiser4 patch from kernel.org. Any ideas?

sure:

do the following and post the output (the c-file and its line) to Edward and CC the reiserfs mailing list:

Code:
addr2line -e /usr/src/linux/vmlinux -i ffffffff813e56fe

addr2line is included in binutils

if that doesn't reveal enough information - you might need to re-compile your kernel with:

Quote:
[*] Verbose BUG() reporting (adds 70K)
[*] Compile the kernel with debug info
[ ] Reduce debugging information

should also be enough

Ok, at least I found the time to send the information to Edward. I hope it helps.
