I like the idea and placed a bugzilla entry: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339175

What have you tried so far? You could upload your ebuild there on bugzilla, right now I don't have time for it but maybe in a few days time...

This looks good to me - I've only just started using wicd and this is definitely better than knetworkmanager.

I have a problem though: now I've switched to wicd-client-kde, the GTK client is still starting on login, no matter how many times I quit it. Does anyone know how to stop the GTK client resurrecting?

I also didn't know any better than to simply recompile wicd with USE="-gtk" ;)

Copy /etc/xdg/autostart/wicd-tray.desktop to ~/.config/autostart/ then you can disable it by the KDE autostart config.

Thanks for both the solutions - I went with the USE-flag one, but good to know there's a way I can have both frontends coexist if preferred.

I have found one apparent bug in the client, with the wired autoconnect feature. I selected the option "Prompt for wired network profile" as well as "Always switch to a wired connection when available", but this prompt doesn't appear when I connect to a wired network - it just connects to the last selected profile.
