I downloaded oss-4.2.2002.ebuild from https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=184123 The build went fine but I'm getting no sound from my speakers. I notice with ossxmix, I could see the vmix0-outvu to be moving to green and red and green as I run youtube video or music on my computer but no output whatsoever.

I first tried to install the layman's oss-devel overlay but both of them yeilded problems I'm not very familiar with so I came over to the ebuild posted on the bugzilla.

My Motherboard and my Audio device:

Quote:
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
Subsystem: Biostar Microtech Int'l Corp Device 8225

My ossdetect -v

Quote:
ossdetect -v
Detected ATI High Definition Audio (SB600)
Detected Generic USB audio/MIDI device (BETA)
USB support available in the system, adding USB driver
Detected Generic USB audio/MIDI device (BETA)

[Deleted emerge info and dmesg audio information because it was long.]

Let me know if you need other information.

Final Edit: Ok, I don't know what's wrong with my computer. I think the problem is my hardware. I tried to load my computer over and over again, with Ubuntu and with Gentoo, changing the alsa-utils at once and rebuilding (unmerging and remerging OSS4). It is interesting though that while there are records on google with my hardware, people solves them not exactly by the software. Anyways, what I did was went on Windows 7, had the sound run there first, went on Ubuntu's Live CD, downloaded adobe flash and tested the sound. It worked well. And then back on Gentoo and the sound worked great. So, it seems there's something in Windows that activates my audio or something? Anyways, this is solved. The audio works great!
