Hi! I'm trying to build qt-wayland from the benf overlay, but when portage wants to fetch the source tree with git, I get this error message:
Quote:

When I try to fetch the git tree manually, it actually works. I had exactly the same problem with an ebuild I tried to write from scratch, so I don't think it's an ebuild specific problem. Perhaps its portage-2.2.0alpha*? Other live ebuilds like mesa-9999 from x11 overlay work fine.

Here's the ebuild in question:

Moved from Portage & Programming to Unsupported Software, overlay ebuild support belongs in US.

Try to look here

Thanks, but that wasn't the solution here.

Checked that same ebuild (by cut'n paste) and it worked here ("ebuild filename unpack" output below)
Code:

...
>>> Unpacking source...
 * GIT NEW clone -->
 *    repository:               git://gitorious.org/~krh/qt/qt-wayland.git
Cloning into bare repository /usr/portage/distfiles/git-src/qt-wayland...
remote: Counting objects: 476596, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (108794/108794), done.
...

So it looks like really there's something odd in your setup.
My portage/git versions:

[ebuild R ] sys-apps/portage-2.1.9.24 USE="(ipc) -build -doc -epydoc -python3 (-selinux)" LINGUAS="-pl" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-vcs/git-1.7.3.2-r1 USE="blksha1 curl iconv perl threads webdav -bash-completion -cgi -cvs -doc -emacs -gtk (-ppcsha1) -subversion -tk -xinetd" 0 kB

Turns out that the gitorious servers suck.
