Moved from Other Things Gentoo to Unsupported Software, Funtoo questions belong in US.

It would help if you post all the commands that you issued from the liveCD. For example, did you copy the mounts to mtab?
Code:
cp /proc/mounts /etc/mtab

Normally, if I have the luxury of 2 separate harddrives for 2 operating systems, I would install grub on the Linux drive, not the Windows drive.
That way, when (not if) a Windows reinstallation is needed, grub is not harmed in the process.

ps. The reason grub will not be harmed is because I unplug the cable from the Linux drive prior to installing Windows.
