Firefox apparently requires libosmesa for webGL, which unless I'm mistaken, is deprecated. Is there any way to work around this? I use the Nvidia proprietary driver.

And help is greatly appreciated :D

I have same question, but I'm on xf86-video-ati with mesa-9999 on Gallium.

It doesn't need, but is able to run, when provided libosmesa. But as we don't have it with Gentoo Mesa, does anybody have any idea on how to get webGL working in Firefox?

And for my question:
- Switching to FGLRX is not solution for me - I don't want to do it
- I need it in Firefox, not Chrome or any other browser

If anybody have any idea about what to do - that'd be very appreciated :)

Hi,

@qinjuehang : for Firefox 4 b4 or b5, I was able to use some WebGL demo by changing a value in about:config (something like webgl.enabled_for_all_sites). But with b7 or b8 webGL was working without changing anything.
Oh, and I'm using x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-260.19.29 on amd64 stable branch.

And about webGL enabled by default (or not), I read something like : "Firefox developpers only enabled webGL for Nvidia (proprietary) drivers because others had few bugs making Firefox to crash sometimes". I'll post the link if I found the source of this "quote".

Found it : link here.

I searched a bit and found that MOZ_GLX_IGNORE_BLACKLIST=1 should enable webgl on all cards.
So I tried it and started firefox this way:

MOZ_GLX_IGNORE_BLACKLIST=1 /usr/bin/firefox

But there's still no webgl support. What am I doing wrong?

P.S. I use firefox 4 from the mozilla overlay.
P.P.S. Sorry for my bad english. :)

MOZ_GLX_IGNORE_BLACKLIST=1 /usr/bin/firefox and GL settings in about:config fixed this for me.
