Has anyone gotten neko to run on gentoo yet?
i did see the other thread about this, did what was advised. didn't resolve the issue for me.

I've used the ebuild from bugzilla, a layman ebuild, and the tar installer from haxe.org
none have had any success

i haven't gotten past this error when running neko

neko: error while loading shared libraries: libgc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

i do have libgc
$whereis libgc
libgc: /usr/lib/libgc.a /usr/lib/libgc.la /usr/lib/libgc.so /usr/lib64/libgc.a /usr/lib64/libgc.la /usr/lib64/libgc.so

and i've added neko env vars
$cat /etc/env.d/50neko
#/etc/env.d/50neko
NEKOPATH=/usr/lib/neko
PRELINK_PATH_MASK=/usr/bin/neko*

any ideas?

thanks,

note
Quote:

This does not appear in your listed lib objects.
Add a symlink. match your arch .
if ARCH 32
Code:

ln -s /usr/lib/libgc.so /usr/lib/libgc.so.1

else if ARCH = 64
Code:

ln -s /usr/lib64/libgc.so /usr/lib64/libgc.so.1

or both. I think that should do it.
if not, post equery b libgc, I can't tell what pacakge it belongs to, that is if this does not get shifted to unsupported software.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Unsupported Software as it's not in the Portage tree.

@idella4

i already had the symlink there (i didn't create it)
Code:
$ ls -l /usr/lib64/libgc.so*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     14 Dec  8 11:52 /usr/lib64/libgc.so -> libgc.so.1.0.3
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     14 Dec  8 11:52 /usr/lib64/libgc.so.1 -> libgc.so.1.0.3
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 165200 Dec  8 11:52 /usr/lib64/libgc.so.1.0.3

nothing showed up for equery b libgc though
Code:
$equery b libgc
[ Searching for file(s) libgc in *... ]

i do have dev-libs/boehm-gc installed
Code:
$emerge -pv dev-libs/boehm-gc
[ebuild   R   ] dev-libs/boehm-gc-7.1  USE="threads -nocxx" 0 kB

That's the problem, and why the thread was shifted. I suggested you post it because it did the same in mine. I have no idea what packages or program libgc comes from, and that's why it's not working in your gentoo. It probably needs to be manually added to PATH or a LIB PATH, go through your system env variables. The ebuild you attempted must be falling short & I don't know about creating ebuilds. You'll have to hope users in unsupported software can help.
Possibly you may need the symlink for /usr/lib/libgc.so. Remember amd64 can utilise both 32 & 64 bit compiled software, as long as it's compiled into your running kernel.
