hey everyone

Whenever i try to open Adobe Acrobat reader using the menu, I get the following error:

Failed to execute child process "acroread" (No such file or directory)

also when i try to run it from the command line I get:

bash: acroread: command not found

I have tried to reemerge it a bunch of times but still it does not work :(

any idea on how I can resolve this?

Running
Code:
$ equery f acroread | grep /bin
should show you the executable.

What kind of menu are you using? If you can start acroread from an xterm or similar
Code:
$ acroread
then your (whatever kind of) menu might need a fix.

Are you getting the plugin listed in firefox' about:plugins overview?

There are plenty of good, free PDF readers. What do you want with Adobe?

So I discovered I was having some other problems, specifically I couldn't re-emerge sys-apps/sandbox. After hunting through the forums about my sandbox problem I came across a fix for it that also fixed my problems with acroread.

Code:

cd /lib
ln -s ../lib32/ld-linux.so.2
