I can not switch to python-2.7.1-r1 as app-pda/libopensync is masked for removal.

libopensync is masked for removal
Code:
equery d app-pda/libopensync
[ Searching for packages depending on app-pda/libopensync... ]
kde-base/kitchensync-3.5.10 (<=app-pda/libopensync-0.30)

It is a dependency of kde-base/kitchensync-3.5.10
and kitchensync is a dependency of kde-base/kdepim-meta-3.5.10

I'm still holding onto KDE-3.5 (don't know how long I'll be able to keep it); if I remove kde-base/kdepim-meta and kde-base/kitchensync will KDE-3.5 still function OK?

Hi Joseph_sys,

KDE won't collapse without kdepim-meta, and unless you actually use kitchensync, no problem. Just unmerge kdepim-meta, kitchensync and libopensync and portage should be happy again.

Remember though that without the metapackage installed, any other kdepim packages you use and want to keep will not be kept if you do an emerge --depclean. It's probably a good idea to do an emerge -pv --depclean, look at the list and do emerge --noreplace <packagename> for any you want to keep.

I don't know if you have noticed by now or not, but libopensync is NOT masked anymore in Portage thanks to the work done by Ryan Hill (dirtyepic).
