How can I enable the introspection flag of gtk?

It currently shows up as
Code:
[ebuild     U ] x11-libs/gtk+-9999 [3.0.8] USE="cups (-aqua) -debug -doc -examples (-introspection) -test -vim-syntax -xinerama" 0 kB [0=>1]

Create /etc/portage/profile/package.use.mask and add
Code:
x11-libs/gtk+ -introspection

there are a lot of introspection unmasks to do.
It is better to globally enable that useflag.

Code:

viralex@cylon ~ $ cat /etc/portage/profile/use.mask
-introspection

You would then have to exclude use.mask from portage syncs, using the make.conf, because a portage sync will overwrite edits.

Using
Code:
PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS="--exclude-from=/etc/portage/rsync_excludes"
, with /etc/portage/rsync_excludes having the files that I wanted to exclude from sync

??? Portage syncs don't write anything to /etc/portage. Syncing only updates your portage tree which is usually located at /usr/portage unless you put it somewhere else. Either your confusing /etc/portage/profile with /usr/portage/profiles or you put your tree in /etc/portage in which case you should definately move it.

nvm.
I was getting a bit ahead of myself.

I tried adding it to /etc/portage/profile/use/mask.

It didn't work, so while I figure this out, I added it to /etc/make.profile/use.mask .
I added that into the exclusion file so that it wouldn't do anything to it until I found how to add introspection permanatly
