Hi,
I am getting a crash when I try to run gnome-tweak-tool in Gnome 3:

I had the same when I had python 2.6 active as python 2 environment, I then switched over to python 2.7 (run all the python-updater etc), but same thing still. Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Hi monsm,

I have the exact same issue. FWIW, I simply commented out the two assertions in that python file. Then, the tweak tool seems to work fine. Of course, that's only a workaround as the assertions are there for some reason.

Bye,
Tassilo

Sounds like a great solution. Since we keep downloading the source code we might was well modify it a bit on occasion
Might give that a try myself.

Hi Tassilo,
That worked well.

I did some print statements from that place (line 140 in widgets.py). It is looking up schema:org.gnome.desktop.interface and the cursor-theme value in there when it crashes.

So is anything special needed for the cursor theme in Gnome 3? Have I forgotten something? I have a clean install here, so no old Gnome 2x stuff on my machine..

Hm, indeed. And when the tweak tool is running, Interface > Cursor theme is empty. So that might be the reason.

I have these theme related packages installed:

Code:
[I] x11-themes/gnome-icon-theme (3.0.0@04/08/2011): GNOME default icon themes
[I] x11-themes/gnome-icon-theme-extras (3.0.0@04/22/2011): GNOME 2 icon theme extras
[I] x11-themes/gnome-themes-standard (3.0.1[1]@04/29/2011): Adwaita theme for GNOME Shell
[I] x11-themes/gnome-icon-theme-symbolic [1] (3.0.0@04/22/2011): GNOME 2 symbolic icon themes
[1] "gnome" /var/lib/layman/gnome

Hi,
Yes, I have the exact same packages.

The overlay also contain this one: x11-themes/gnome-themes-3.0.0
This one though gets blocked by gnome-themes-standard and gnome-session. Would be good to hear from someone who have this working on what they have installed in this area...

I'm interested in fixing this but am curious why that schema is empty (as it should be defined in gsettings-desktop-schemas).

Can you please tell me the contents and if you have the gnome themes and desktop schmas installed (and what version)

John (gnome-tweak-tool author)

p.s. can you follow up this discussion on bugzilla please

Thanks Tassilo, the bug fix in gnome-tweak-tool-3.0.3-r1 does indeed work.

Looks like you have a different problem, Lukyn.

You have this line in your output:
Code:
GSettingsSwitchTweak("org.gnome.shell.clock", "show-date", schema_filename="org.gnome.shell.gschema.xml")

I would try to find out which packe install that xml file and then reemerge it (update if the overlay has a newer version).
