Since update to KDE4 I was missing Quanta+ and no other tool can suit my needs as good as Quanta+ did. Today I finally have some time to compile Quanta+ by hands cause it was removed from portage. I used instructions in BLFS book (Beyond Linux From Scratch). So I installed qt 3.3.8b, kdebase, kdelibs, and finally kdewebdev by following these manuals:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/x/qt.html
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/kde/kdelibs.html
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/kde/kdebase.html
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/kde/kdewebdev.html

I installed to /opt/qt-3.3.8b and /opt/kde-3.5.10 respectively. Now, Quanta+ runs but with one problem: no images on buttons. In console it prints these messages when running:

libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.5
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.4.5

There is no libpng-1.2.5 ebuild in portage anymore. So, I downloaded one from here http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/media-libs/libpng/libpng-1.2.5-r2.ebuild and placed it into /usr/local/portage/layman/kde-sunset/media-libs/libpng. First it wrote message that it cannot find patch file. So, I commented line with `epatch` command inside of this ebuild and ran ebuild <file.ebuild> digest. Then tryed to emerge again. This time package compiled ok but I received error message about file collisions:

Code:

strip: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-strip --strip-unneeded -R .comment

ecompressdir: bzip2 -9 /usr/share/man

 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a

 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at

 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from

 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.

So, I am very happy that I installed Quanta+ back again. And hope that somebody here will suggest solution to this small problem. Thank you in advance.

Have you tried emergeing libpng-1.2.44? In theory it should be compatible with previous 1.2 versions.

Yes, it didn't help.
