I've ordered myself a nvidia 460 so I thought I'd start messing around with opencl. I see that gentoo has nvidia's and AMD's opencl sdks. However there isn't an ebuild for the intel sdk yet. It's only in beta, but I still think an ebuild would be nice. I'm willing to make one but this brought up another issue, slotting and eselect. Seeing that Intel and AMD provide a way to run opencl on the cpu with their library it is logical to create an environment were potientiall all three of their sdk's (or simply libraries) can be installed at the same time. Then the current runtime can be selected via eselect opengl. I think this can be setup in a manor similar to opengl no? I'm willing to file a bug report and take a shot at this, although I have no history with creating anything beyond the basic ebuild.

It appears pentoo already has a eselect-opencl ebuild in their overlay. So that part is started. Now it just needs to be determined how to setup the slotting for libopencl.so? I've read the slotting page on the gentoo dev manual but it doesn't directly deal with libraries of the same version, which is more or less what we are dealing with here. What's everyone's take on opencl and how should it be setup in gentoo?
