Since I've been using reiser4, I've experienced -

1) too many crashes
2) reiser4 corruptions
3) Boot failures cause of the above.

And I doubt it's cause openrc is not checking reiser4 after a hard restart... all it shows is fsck.reiser4, and if I fsck manually I find corruptions.

Does this warrant a bug report?

I've been using Reiser4 with OpenRC from the beginning (of OpenRC, that is). It's relatively recently that I've been experiencing the same thing: corruptions found during fsck when booted from SystemRescueCD but not during normal boot. It's kind of snuck up on me: I can't correlate the corruption to a specific update. Reiser4 used to be rock solid for me.

The 2.6.38 series of patches is wayyy too bad! It corrupts everything and my system wont stay up for more than 5 minutes. I'm on my way back to reiserfs, writing from systemrescuecd which's backing up the rootfs.

All in all, I think we're all stuck with reiserfs for now. Btrfs is of no good.

Yeah that's why I'm still on .37

I fsck from systemrescuecd from time to time and all is fine :D

And OpenRC probably doesn't call fsck.reiser4 , but to be honest R4 shouldn't need it (when it's not buggy :) ) even on hard reset.
