I have whole system build from scratch with gcc 4.6 and glibc 2.13-r2. No previous gnome 2.xx installation just stright Gnome 3 from the gnome overlay. I'm not able to run gnome shell only fallback mode. Below is my .xsession-errors file. I'm wondering what does session 'gnome' runnable check failed mean? I was trying both nvidia binary driver and nouveau but the end result is the same.

Code:
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
which: no keychain in (/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.6.0:/usr/games/bin)
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- gnome-session

...same problem here.
I've removed all my gnome config files from home, and gnome started normally, but after another reboot it was in fallback mode :(

In /var/log/messages and .xsession-errors there isn't any info unless for this:
WARNING: Session 'gnome' runnable check failed: Exited with code 1

I was running gnome3 very well untill I have been "forced" to move back to openrc, I was using systemd but now it has been inserted in portage and there are blocks.
I had problems with xorg (resolved) and gnome3...

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have rebuild whole systems again with gcc 4.5.2 and it didin't help. It is not gcc related then!

I have re-enabled gnome-shell though system-settings/system-info and now it works!

Moved from Desktop Environments to Unsupported Software as overlay ebuilds are not officially supported.
