I want to build sys-fs/zfs from the Science overlay, which depends on sys-devel/spl, however I can't get spl to build.

Running './configure' directly shows that there are some Autotool macros missing:

./configure: line 1722: SPL_AC_META: command not found
checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking target system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
./configure: line 1857: AM_MAINTAINER_MODE: command not found
./configure: line 1858: AM_SILENT_RULES: command not found
./configure: line 1859: syntax error near unexpected token `$SPL_META_NAME,'
./configure: line 1859: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE($SPL_META_NAME, $SPL_META_VERSION)'

It seems that spl needs to have ./autogen.sh
Runnig ./autogen.sh then doing the configure works, as far as getting through configuring.

What do I need to do to fix this ebulid?

That got them to build, but they won't load. What did I do wrong?

Code:

> zfs # modprobe spl
FATAL: Module spl not found.
> zfs # modprobe zfs
FATAL: Module zfs not found.

> spl # modprobe ./spl.ko
FATAL: Module ./spl.ko not found.
