|I tried to copy a 49 GB folder with files and directories of various sizes on an external USB drive to a local drive. After a few hundred MB the copying stops and the indicator light on the external drive doesn't flash any more.
Both cp and rsync remain running and there are no messages in dmesg or /var/log/everything/current.
With rsync I can kill the process and then reissue the command to resume.
What could be wrong here?
edit: This seems to have been rectified by a reboot. Possibly a reload of the usb kernel module would have done it too.
edit2: This seems to be related to a bug in khugepaged. Restricting it or disabling it in the kernel seems to be a solution.
